Note that the name Gadsen as provided is almost certainly Gadsden. Stephen Gibbes reports
In reply to your question, the name of Frances Gibbes' second husband was definitely Roger Gadsden (NOT "Gadsen"). I have corresponded with Gadsden's descendants in California and Sydney, and have in front of me a photocopy of the certificate of his marriage to Frances Gibbes (nee Simmons). The Gadsden-Gibbes wedding took place in the Parish Church of St Marylebone in London on 3 MARCH 1854. Gadsden (c. 1829-1899) was a "barrister at law" of "old Square, Lincoln's Inn" . Frances is merely described as being a "widow". Roger Gadsden had been appointed to look after Frances' legal and financial interests after she had arrived alone in England in 1850; he evidently did this only too well because Frances had given birth to his son -- Roger Charles Gadsden (1853-1924) -- prior to their wedding.
