- See in particular the war records of Rudolph Cassirer in Ernest Cassirer album including documents of their son Rudolph Cassirer including, most ironically, a certificate to Rudolph Cassirer sent in the name of Adoph Hitler, for the Honour Cross for his participation in active military service. These were sent on the request of Hindenburg to Hitler to all who had served, irrespective of their status. It did not inhibit him from later condemning Jewish recipients of this honour to death.
