Notes for Rebecca MOSS
Her certificate of death says arrived Sydney on the barque 'Britomart' on 1 Feb 1835 from London via Hobart. She was accompanied by her children Elizabeth 15, Saul 13, Emma 11, Julia 9, Anna 7, Maurice 6, Rosetta 4, Charles 2. The list in the Hebrew/English Bible of her granddaughter, Julia, shows Henry followed later, Sarah born in Sydney. The text of the inscription on her gravestone at Rookwood is 'Rebecca Solomon wife of Samuel'. It is in the 'Old' Jewish Section of the cemetery. She was originally buried in the Devonshire Street cemetery. The informant of her death was her granddaughter, Deborah Cohen.

Vessel's name - Britomart. Tonnage - 242, Master - William MacDonald, From Whence - London via Hobart Town, When sailed - 16 August (from London, 24/5 January from Hobart, Lading - Merchangdize, Agent - Montefiore & Co.
The names of her parents were found on her certificate of death. She was buried in the Jewish Burial Ground, the witnesses being Edward A Levy and S Hoffnung. (This from Margaret Dancer).
