It now seems clear that Solomon was the father of nine children, one of whom was deceased by the time of the birth of Charlotte Rachel in 1873.

It is possible that he was amongst those attending the funeral of David Lewis. The list shows a Solomon Cohen of Hull. I now think this is unlikely.

I think it was at the naming of the first child of this couple that caused the split amongst the Jewish community of Sydney. Apparently Julia was not considered to be correctly converted to Judaism as her mother was probably not Jewish.

At the birth of their daughter Charlotte Rachel , Solomon's occupation was listed as Commission Agent and his age as 48.
