Notes for Sara Alice HYMAN
Whilst I was not convinced that this lady or the children listed are members of the Hyman (Cohen) family having obtained her certificate of death no doubt remains. The date of her marriage is from NSW Marriages (1889-1918) which shows her name as Sara. Her parents are correctly named, and the age given for her places her as somewhat older than previously thought. I now have her children correctly identified which previously they were not.
Death - 'Between the Wars Index' shows a Sarah Lawrence as dying in 1922 in Randwick, the wife of William Lawrence. Also listed was a marriage in 1895. There are burials in the Jewish Section at Rookwood for Sara Lawrence and Willie Lawrence (section 4, Row 6). the headstone/s only read 'Our mother' and 'Our father'.
Sara's death is shown as 11 Oct 1922, and Willie's as 29 June 1923.
Sydney Morning Herald October 12, 1922. Lawrence, October 11 at her residence, Saralea, Division street, Randwick, Sara loved wife of Willie Lawrence and mother of Peggy, Dolly and Alan. Minyon at 8 o'clock, Thursday at above address.
The cause of her death was Cerebral haemorrhage and the certificate shows her second name as Alice. She had been in New South Wales for 60 years.
I did not find any notice for her wedding, but her certificate of death lists her as being aged 37 when she married and shows her place of birth as London, England.
