Notes for Deborah Henrietta SOLOMON
Information from Margaret Dancer's chart. Also monument at Rookwood which reads ..Died 15 May 1911. In loving memory of Deborah Henrietta Solomon, daughter of the late Henry Solomon, of Eden, Twofold Bay. Section B Row 10, Grave 243-246. The translation of the Hebrew inscription is - Here lies Dvora daughter of Zwi. Died on 17 llyar 5671.
The only possible entry I could find for her birth was a birth (Hebrew records) to Henry and Caroline in 1853. Reference 1853 499 136. I now hold her certificate of death which shows her age as 60. At the time she was living at 'Havilah' 1 Darlinghurst Road. Her mother's name was shown as Carolilne Magnus (sic) Her cousin Bessie Solomon of 5 Onslow Avenue was the informant of her death which was registered on 23 May 1911. Her father's name was Henry Solomon. Her place of birth was Bombala and there was no marriage.
Deborah Solomon is the person who gave permission for the reburial of Maurice Israel Magnuson from the Devonshire Street Cemetery to Rookwood in 1901. I wondered what the connection was but I now realise that he was her grandfather.
