The Davey "Rollright" thorn needle sharpener was sold by the EMG company to enable thorn needles to be resharpened to a perfect point. The rotating edge of the gramophone turntable was used to power the Rollright and only 3 seconds of use is sufficient to sharpen a thorn needle to a perfect point.
