I was very sorry to hear over the weekend that Sue had finally lost her battle - she was such a wonderful fighter. Peter Mc Neil passed on your email, so I wanted to salute Sue one last time.

It’s been many years since I’ve seen Sue more than in passing, as I lived in Queensland for so long, and she was in Melbourne, but I remember with great affection the good times and fabulous conversations we had in Wollongong, and at the house, when you and Michael were just teenagers, even younger. Sue made a huge contribution to Australian life, scholarship, and art, and brought her infectious enthusiasm and passion with her, an enabling quality that is too often forgotten.
