Lt.Gen Sir Leonard [Bill] Thornton KBE,CBE. rising through the ranksto become Chief of the New Zealand General Staff, commissioned intothe New Zealand Army in 1937, became a Bgigadier at the age of 28years in 1944. Following retirement from the Army he served asAmbassador to Vietnam 1972-1974. Took an active part in twodocumentaries.
