Born in Sydney in 1876, after school and University was admitted as aSolicitor in 1908, he married in 1912 Florence Theodora Ward, thedaughter of Peter and Sarah Speare of Armidale. She had married in1904 Arthur S. Ward, she had a son from that marriage , Eric ArthurCarleton Ward, who she retained custody off. Reg treated him as hisown son.
