His Honor Judge Roderick Pitt Meagher AO, QC retired Judge of the NSWSupreme Court.
Born 1932 the son of a wealthy country family that owned storesthroughout NSW [John Meagher & Co.- in 1954 converted to JohnMeagher[Holdings Ltd] Captain of the school in 1949. In 1956graduated from Sydney University with degrees in Arts and Law. He wasawarded University Medals in History and Law. He attended St.John'sCollege and was House President there and, later, a member of thegoverning Council for many years.
Legal Career: Called to the Bar in 1956. He was lecturing a theFaculty of Law at Sydney University within the same year. After takingSilk, Justice Meagher served as President of the New South Wales BarAssociation from 1979-1981. Meagher was a Justice of the NSW SupremeCourt and the Court of Appeal NSW from 1989-15 March 2004, retiring onthe 15 March 2004
He curently serves as a patron to Macquarie University, and spends hisspare time strolling through art galleries and such, and owns a goodcollection of paintings etc.
His Grandfather was Michael Meagan MLC, who had died in Bathurst in1920, buried in family vault at Bathurst Cemetery, after a longservice to the community both as a member of parliament, but also asthe founder of the many John Meagher Stores spread throughout Southernand Western New South Wales.
