Lewis was Managing Director of Feldheim Gotthelf & Co. Ltd, he hadstarted with the Company as a junior and ended up as the ManagingDirector.
A fire in 1890 did 88,000 pds damage to thier fancy goods warehouse ofthe Company, and with others around damage was estimated between800,000-900,000 pds. One of the largest fires in Sydney's History atthe time. To-day value between $25-35,000.000.00
