The Devils - or Mephistophelian Figures - Italy c 1880 these figures were given to the then museum of Applied Arts & Sciences (now the Power House Museum) by P A Cullen and are sometimes on display there. They definitely came from Charnwood, the home of Alfred & Elizabeth Hart. June Theomin remembers seeing them there. Her letter about them is with the Stuart Cohen correspondence file.
He is included in the Biographical Register of Australia as follows: Partner Feldheim, (I), Jacobs (qv) & Co (later Jacobs Hart & Co) tobacco merchants, man dir William Cameron Bros & Co, tobacco manfrs 1895; dir Brit A/asian Tobacco Co from inception, chmn to 1925; dir Foster's Beer Co: left estate of at least Pounds 183,252. Found in the library at SAG - 'AD Hart in partnership with Jacobs' - a paper by PA Jacobs - Rypinski. Unfortunately I did not record exactly where this came from and have not yet been able to find the source.
In the Electoral Roll of 1899 for the Referendum regarding Federation his address was shown as 147 Grey Street, East Melbourne.
