Born Mavis Joan Lazarus.517 Australia’s first female QC. She has a number of legal buildings named after her in the legal district of Melbourne. In 1923, Joan Rosanove QC (1896-1974) was the pioneering advocate to sign the Roll of Counsel of the Victorian Bar. Joan was also the first woman in Victoria appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1965. Her daughter became the first Victorian woman judge in 1976 when Justice Margaret Lusink was appointed to the Family Court of Australia.
